During my work on Teledyne FLIR's Raven site planning tool, I wore two hats: UX designer and researcher. As a researcher, I dove deep to understand the workflows of security professionals using Raven. This meant analyzing user data, evaluating the current interface, and conducting user interviews. By uncovering their pain points and preferences, I gained valuable insights that would guide my design decisions. On the design side, I focused on crafting an intuitive and efficient experience. This involved everything from optimizing the layout for dragging and dropping cameras to ensuring clear visualizations of thermal fields. Ultimately, my goal was to empower these technicians with a user-friendly tool that streamlines their security camera layout design process. Once the final prototype was completed, I put my research hat back on and conducted user testing. We received great feedback that further informed our designs.
